In August 2004, Thistle changed the company name back to Moxness. Moxness acknowledges the roots of the company name, which began when Eivind Moxness opened the door to a small machine shop, Moxness Tool Works in 1922. In the 1950s the Moxness family led the company into the broad fields of silicone molding. Moxness was one of the leading producers of molded silicone rubber parts in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. Thistle president Tom Lapsley's vision is to "return Moxness to a leader in the marketplace via aggressive investment in technology and people, coupled with a very experienced workforce and a good old fashioned Midwest work ethic."
